The People of CastAlum – Maintenance Supervisor Interview – Nigel Westwood

One of CastAlum’s longest serving employees, Nigel Westwood, retired last month. Here’s a little bit of his story.

New Beginnings

I have been working at CastAlum now for 24 years! I remember being attracted to join the team here as it was a brand-new facility with new equipment. I have spent my time here working with the maintenance team in various capacities.

The most enjoyable part of my role has been the opportunities to solve problems. There is always something new to fault find and it keeps you on your toes.

Favourite Moments

When I look back on my work here, it’s that ability to take on new challenges that make me most proud. It wasn’t easy to start fresh with a new company. This involved going on training in the USA, plus visiting other countries to interface with various machine manufacturers and working with engineers to install their equipment. It gives me great satisfaction to walk around the factory and see the die casting cells that I have been personally involved in commissioning.

If you’re interested in a career in die casting at CastAlum, all I can say is personally I have worked here for 24 years and reached retirement. CastAlum is a good company to work for.

All at CastAlum would like to thank Nigel for his years of service and congratulations on your retirement!
