The People of CastAlum – Quality Director Interview – Mark Simpson
In our latest Employee Spotlight series, we speak to our Quality Director, Mark Simpson, who recently marked a quarter century of service at CastAlum!
A career in casting
I’ve been working at CastAlum now for 25 years and I still enjoy coming into work (most days)!
I was originally attracted to the opportunity at CastAlum as we were part of a larger group which had sites in the USA. The main drivers were the opportunity to expand my knowledge and get additional training. I started as the Quality Manager and subsequently in 2009 I was fortunate to be part of the management buyout of the company as the Quality Director.
Highlights
I enjoy the variation of working in die casting. No two days are the same. Overcoming challenges for customers and working with the various departments means the job is constantly interesting.
We don’t make simple parts at CastAlum so whenever we bring in a new program on time and meet the required quality standards then this is a reason to feel proud. Over my last 25 years with the CastAlum team we have launched many successful projects, and this has resulted in us receiving new work from existing customers.
If you’re just starting out at CastAlum, take your time to get to know and understand the product and processes. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice! There is a talented team at CastAlum with good knowledge, and they are always willing to help and support.
