The People of CastAlum – Engineering Manager Interview – Simon Grimwade
This month in our interview series: Engineering Manager Simon Grimwade talks us through his career in die casting!
Here’s what Simon has to share about his work in engineering:
I’ve been working at CastAlum now for fourteen years. I originally joined as Maintenance Manager, before progressing to the position of Engineering Manager.
I was previously working for another die casting company before applying to work at CastAlum. I remember seeing the foundry for the first time being impressed. It’s a good, tidy place to work, and has good prospects for anyone willing to give it their best.
My role as Engineering Manager means that every day is different. I love the variety of the job I get to do. My favourite part of the role is simply working with the people here.
There have been many highlights during my time here at CastAlum, but the most satisfying has been leading the introduction of more energy efficient equipment. Apart from the obvious environmental benefits, this has saved the company a lot of money in overheads every day!
If you’re interested in getting started in a career in die casting, my simple advice is to be happy in your work!
